Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Ait Benhaddou → Dades Valley
Our journey begins with an early departure from Marrakech, ascending into the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260m). We'll make stops for panoramic photos before reaching the iconic Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. After exploring this ancient fortified village, we continue through Ouarzazate, the Skoura Oasis, and the Valley of Roses. Our day concludes as we arrive in the beautiful Dades Valley, where we'll settle into our hotel for dinner.
Day 2: Dades Valley → Todra Gorges → Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)
After breakfast, we'll admire the unique "monkey fingers" rock formations of the Dades Valley before heading to the magnificent Todra Gorges. You'll have time to walk between the towering 300-meter-high canyon walls. Our journey continues east, and as we approach Merzouga, the landscape transforms into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Here, you'll meet your camel caravan for a magical trek into the desert. We'll arrive at our traditional Berber camp in time for sunset, followed by a Moroccan dinner and music around a campfire.
Day 3: A Full Day in the Merzouga Desert
Wake up to a stunning Sahara sunrise. Today is dedicated to exploring the desert. After breakfast, you can choose to take a 4x4 excursion around the dunes, visit the village of Khamlia to listen to Gnawa music, meet a nomadic family, or try sandboarding down the dunes. Lunch will be a traditional Berber pizza. In the afternoon, you can relax at the camp or take another camel ride to a high dune for sunset. We spend a second night at the desert camp, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the tranquility of the Sahara.
Day 4: Merzouga → Rissani → Draa Valley → Ouarzazate
After a final desert breakfast, we leave Merzouga and head to the historic market town of Rissani, the ancient capital of the Tafilalet region. We then journey west, crossing the vast pre-Saharan plains and passing through the town of Alnif. Our route takes us to the head of the magnificent Draa Valley at Agdz. We'll follow this ribbon of green, famous for its millions of palm trees and ancient kasbahs, before arriving in Ouarzazate for dinner and an overnight stay in a local hotel.
Day 5: Ouarzazate → Telouet Kasbah → Marrakech
On our final day, we leave Ouarzazate and take a detour to visit the fascinating Telouet Kasbah, the former palace of the powerful Glaoui clan. This crumbling fortress hides some incredibly beautiful and well-preserved interior rooms. From there, we join the main road and begin our final crossing of the High Atlas Mountains. We expect to arrive back in Marrakech in the late afternoon, where your driver will drop you off at your accommodation, concluding your grand Moroccan loop.
